JeetVet Stray Cat Rescue Program (Stop 3) — Shanghai Jian Qiao University: The Strong Support Behind Stray Cat Rescue

May 18,2026
Located in the Lingang New Area of the China (Shanghai) Pilot Free Trade Zone, Shanghai Jian Qiao University is a full-time private undergraduate institution focused on cultivating innovative, interdisciplinary, and application-oriented talents for industries including production, technology, services, and management.
Along the breezy coastline of Lingang New City, a special team has been quietly active on campus. Without official titles or grand recognition, they have achieved something remarkable — a 99% neutering rate among stray cats on campus.
This time, the JeetVet Medical Stray Cat Rescue Program (Stop 3) arrived at Shanghai Jian Qiao University, bringing not only professional veterinary equipment, but also witnessing the passion and dedication of these young rescuers on their journey to protect stray animals.
Team Introduction: Jianqiao Meow All-Around Rescue Squad
Unlike traditional registered student clubs, the Shanghai Jian Qiao University Stray Cat Rescue Team (also known as the “Jianqiao Meow All-Around Rescue Squad”) is a student-initiated animal care organization formed entirely through grassroots efforts.
Although the team does not possess formal registration or official filing documents, this has not stopped them from leaving a lasting mark of compassion across the campus over the past three years.
Since its establishment, the team has achieved an impressive record:
▪️Neutering Campaign: From 2021 to 2024, the team completed neutering procedures for over 150 stray cats. Among the approximately 100 stray cats currently living on campus, the neutering rate has reached an astonishing 99%.
▪️Life Rescue Efforts: Successfully helped 64 cats find adoptive homes and rescued more than 100 cats and dogs in total.
▪️Daily Operations: The campus currently maintains 5 fixed feeding stations, operated daily by volunteers on a rotating schedule. Average daily consumption reaches approximately 5 kg of cat food, with monthly usage totaling around 100 kg of cat food and 40 kg of dog food.
On-Site Visit: From Student Volunteers to Retired Teachers Carrying the Mission Forward
The core strength of the rescue team has always been the students. However, as graduating members leave campus year after year, one important question emerged: who would continue carrying this responsibility forward?
The answer is Teacher Qi, a retired teacher rehired by the university after retirement.
During JeetVet Medical’s campus visit, Teacher Qi personally guided the team around the campus. He knew the location of every feeding station by heart. Through his stories, visitors learned not only about the cats themselves, but also about the transformation of the rescue initiative — from scattered feeding efforts to a more scientific and organized management system.
Equipment Upgrade: Veterinary Otoscope Supporting More Accurate Rescue Work
In the rescue team’s daily operations, ear diseases are extremely common among stray cats due to long-term outdoor living conditions. Previously, diagnoses often relied solely on experience or external veterinary examinations.
This time, JeetVet Medical brought a practical and meaningful gift to the “Jianqiao Meow All-Around Rescue Squad” — the professional veterinary otoscope RAE-500.
With this device, team members can quickly and visually examine cats’ ear canals directly on campus, enabling earlier detection of ear mites, inflammation, and other ear conditions. This allows them to create more scientific and timely treatment plans for rescued animals.
Through this equipment donation, JeetVet Medical hopes to provide stronger professional support for the rescue team, ensuring that every stray life can be treated with greater care, precision, and compassion.
